About Course
AC joint injuries are usually due to trauma, such as joint dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint or degenerative conditions, such as osteoarthritis. Treatment of these injuries can be difficult, but they don’t have to be.
The injury is usually caused by a direct force to the shoulder and it can also be causes by hitting the elbow or wrist. This causes pain in the neck and the top of the shoulder with swelling. Sometime X-rays are needed to identify injury. Once you have determined that you have and AC Joint injury than this class is for you!
Since these injuries are usually sustained during athletic activities you can follow these return guidelines.
Return to sport guideline:
- Grade I: 2-4 weeks
- Grade II: 4-8 weeks
- Grade III: 6-8 weeks
